Shakin’ Stevens hosted golfers at Denham Golf Club for another sold-out golf competition, raising funds to help support the treatment of heart and lung patients at Harefield Hospital

In the first 10 years the event has already contributed in excess of a quarter of a million pounds in support to Harefield Hospital, a world-leading centre in the analysis and treatment of heart and lung conditions.

On Thursday 20 June 2024, supporters of Harefield Hospital gathered to enjoy the sun and a friendly competition at Denham Golf Club for the 11th Annual Shakin’ Steven’s Golf Day. Once again, rock legend Shakin’ Stevens hosted teams for a fantastic day of golf in the warm weather and on the glorious course, the proceeds from which will help patients and families dealing with heart and lung conditions.

Hosting the event at Denham Golf Club, Shaky said:

Harefield Hospital is an amazing hospital, and I know from personal experience that many of us owe a great debt of gratitude to the amazing staff who work there. It’s always such a pleasure to be involved in this event, working alongside Community Fundraiser Raf Notarrianni and her dedicated team of helpers, and to then host the day. We look forward to it every year. The atmosphere is always friendly – but make no mistakes, this is truly competitive golf – but who said we couldn’t have some fun and laughs along the way.

After refreshments and registration of the teams there was a brief introduction to the event from Consultant, Dr Miles Dalby.

19 teams competed for the number one spot. This included our musical host Shakin’ Stevens, Pete Langford from The Barron Knights, and Nick Flinn & Donna Jones from The New Seekers.

We are pleased to announce the winners are:

  • 1st place - Mr. Plant Hire
  • 2nd place - Denham Sharks
  • 3rd place - Vinci
  • Nearest the Pin – Andrew Forsyth (The Betchworth Shakers)
  • Longest Drive (Men's) - Andam Furr (Mr. Plant Hire)
  • Longest Drive (Ladies) - Carol Cotterll (Par Tee Girls)
  • Nearest the Flag – Adam Furr (Mr. Plant Hire)

Following an exciting contest, contenders celebrated with an excellent meal in the club’s characterful dining room. Magician Steve Jones entertained the golfers, followed by an exciting raffle, which included prizes donated from generous supporters including Tesco Rickmansworth, Farnham Common Nurseries, Abstract Hairdressing and many more.

Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity would like to say a special thank you to Shakin’ Stevens for hosting the golf day, as well as the amazing Sue Davies for all her help in making this day possible.
