At the end of August 2024, I will reach a significant milestone—the first anniversary of my double lung transplant.

I'd love to celebrate by holding a fundraising challenge on 7th September 2024, inviting everyone to climb a mountain in South Wales, called Pen y Fan, with me.

In 2018 when I first climbed Pen y Fan, I experienced such severe breathlessness and difficulty that I almost swore I'd never do it again. Soon after, I learnt that my lungs were severely damaged and then it all made sense. By the beginning of 2023, my lung condition had become fatally worse. I could not see myself being alive for another year.

But everything changed in August 2023, when I received a very precious gift: the healthy lungs of my deceased donor. This miracle has ended a lifetime of breathlessness, saved my life and given me the ability to embrace each day with big breaths and lots of gratitude.

I invite you to join me in this celebration of life and generosity. Your support can make a world of difference, contributing to the impactful Patient Fund.

I spent nearly two months in the hospital after my surgery. Recovery was tough, and I was often in pain. However, the support and care from the ward staff were incredible. The facilities also aided my recovery. One highlight was a conservatory with glass panels that let the sun in. It had a big TV, game consoles, comfy chairs, and plenty of space to socialize. We played board games, enjoyed art and craft sessions, and sang together. I also had private reflexology sessions and enjoyed treats from the patient trolley, thanks to the Patient Fund. These amenities kept me mentally strong during the early weeks of recovery. I'm grateful to be alive and thrilled to contribute to this fund.

Thank you so much for your donation. Every contribution no matter how little, will help me get closer to my goal. Sonsare Zabadi
