Our service for sleep-related problems is one of the largest in Europe. Your donations helped build the Royal Brompton Centre for Sleep for adults and the Children’s Sleep and Ventilation Unit
The Charity contributed significantly to the funding needed to build the new Royal Brompton Centre for Sleep, housed in the former Chelsea Fire Station and Trafalgar Chambers. The Centre has been innovatively designed with night and day sections, each associated with a particular mood, tone and purpose. Sleep studies are carried out in the night section in comfortable, high spec sleep laboratory rooms. In the day section, are located the outpatient services, meeting area, education suite and consultation rooms. The new centre allows the hospital to carry out more studies, more swiftly, in purpose-designed facilities, rather than in a general respiratory ward.
The centre allows the hospital to carry out more studies into conditions like; sleep apnoea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, idiopathic hypersomnia, circadian disorders and parasomnias including sleep walking and nightmares.
