We want to acquire a brand new Dexa scanner at Harefield Hospital, enhancing care for respiratory and transplant patients

Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity is excited to announce the Harefield Bone Health appeal, which will fund the purchase of a Dexa scanner for Harefield Hospital. This will enhance the care for transplant and respiratory patients, who require regular monitoring of their bone density due to steroid treatment.

The difference the new scanner will make

The new Dexa scanner will be more spacious, quieter and comfortable as patients can undergo scans wearing their own clothes and have a member of staff in the room with them. Dexa scanners also use lower radiation levels, delivering a solution that improves efficiency as well as reducing waiting lists.

Juliette Tennant, Head of Diagnostics for Harefield Hospital, said: “This is the gold standard modality for detecting bone mineral density within a vulnerable group of patients at a low radiation dosage.”

It is important we raise the funds for the Dexa scanner, to enhance the care of Harefield patients. Please donate or fundraise via the link below now. Thank you.
